rimmel mascara review: glam eyes vs. sexy curves

i decided to try out new mascaras
i saw a video where michelle phan went thru a drug store
she walked by the rimmel section and mentioned
that she really liked sexy curves
i saw another video from pixiwoo
(i forgot which sister did the video, i honestly don't know
their names i think one is nik?) and she was
doing a comparison video among different
drug store mascaras...among them she said that
sexy curves was actually one of the best ones
she had picked up...so that's why i picked up
these 2 mascaras during this buy 1 get 1
rimmel sale at cvs a few months back

i wanted to review these after really giving them a shot
because sometimes i start to like things after a while
of using them, especially mascaras. i find that
they work better after they dry up a bit.

packaging
rimmel always has really cute packaging
i really like the glam eyes packaging
it's really cute with the black and pink
especially the criss cross pattern on the handle
i'm not really liking the sexy curves packaging
i think its kind of unnecessary how its so shiny
yea...thats kind of ugly

this is the wand on glam eyes
it's different from most mascaras
i know the quality isn't that great, i couldn't get my camera to focus
but if u can see, there are 4 strips of bristles as opposed to
the traditional wand where the bristles hug all around the wand
it doesn't really bother me...the only only thing is during application
u need to make sure that when u start at the root of ur lashes
u got up rolling up bc usually u can just sweep the wand
straight up with other mascaras
they are rubber bristles, i know some ppl find those
to be kind of spikey on the eyes, but i like it
being that there's 4 strips, 2 are the same, same with the other 2
2 strips are short stiff rubber bristles
and 2 are longer and more bendable

the top brush is the glam eyes.
it didn't come bent like that, that happened by accident
this is one of the cons actually. the wand is very flimsy.
it just got bent by putting it back in the tube bc its so weak.

the bottom one is obv the sexy curves.
rimmel actually took the spherical shape from that givenchy
mascara, idk wat the name is and telescopic from loreal.
only wat rimmel did was have 3 balls instead of the 1 like
wat givenchy and loreal has. they're advertisements
say that this will add 3x the volume, but i rly dont
see wat the difference is if theres 1 or 3 or even 5 bumps lol

enough rambling about packaging..here's wat it looks like on...
without mascara and liner (yuck lol)

glam eyes
not rly volumizing but it is really thickening
which i'd rather have than length (if not both)
does a really good job at separating tho

sexy curves
this is just the opposite of glam eyes
not really thickening, more lengthening

so i mean...what it really comes down to is your
own personal preference. id rather the glam eyes over
the sexy curves, just because it is lengthening, not as much
as the sexy curves but i do like that its much more thickening.

other than that..they do hold a curl (i've never had a problem
with that, but it does last). they don't flake and it lasts throughout the day.
so they're both pretty good...i wouldn't repurchase any of these.
i really like my loreal voluminous so i think im going to stick to that one
until i find a better mascara. however i don't want these to
go to waste so i do like to layer them together.

FOTD & OOTD

today i'm off of work and school.
i have no plans except a date with my research and microsoft word.
i have a 15 page paper to write. so this is actually wat i had on yesterday...

nothing special, i had class so i just threw on a pair of dark washed
boot cut jeans, a white tank top, a black cardigan.
as for accessories, just a black scarf with cream
colored designs on it and stud earrings
(i always have my fossil watch and promise ring on).
shoes had on a pair of black ballet flats from dollhouse (purchased at dsw).

i just did a simple smokey eye
using my coastal scents 88 matte palette
i used the 2nd gray down from the very last column,
the gray-brownish color somewhere below that one
and the black for my outer corner
i really just used the grayish brown to make the transition
to the black easier, then a brown just to soften up the crease area
i also almost always use pose from victoria's secret for my crease
i do this just to add depth to my eye to make them look bigger

face
revlon - color stay liquid foundation
vitoria's secret - camouflage fx concealer palette
using the 2nd color for my tired under eyes and blemishes
revlon - color stay pressed power
to set the liquid and concealer
mac - blush in prism (matte)
mac - cream color base in pearl (frost)
on the tops of my cheeks to highlight

lips
mac - l/l whirl
mac - l/s faux
mac - l/g underage

as for my hair, i don't usually wear it curled
but i just felt like it that day lol
i curled it with my 1" le angelique straightener
that straightener is retailed at $250
i found it at my local tj max for...$30!
i love that straightener!

the body shop's hemp hand protector

i'm a nursing student and as nurse or anyone in the health care field, must know that hand washing is of #1 importance when preventing illness. it's completely vital for everyone to wash your hands (better than antibacterial! don't think it's the same effectiveness people), however when working in this field, we're constantly washing our hands being that we're around sick people all the time. so you can imagine the toll all that hand washing takes on your hands?

i come from a family with a history of eczema, luckily mine stops at dry skin. so my skin is dry to begin with and then when i get into my hospital rotations it's constant hand washing. on top of that i go to school in nyc, so i don't want to be carrying around all those germs on my hands i get from holding onto those poles on the train/bus, for times like that i use my antibacterial, which is very drying being that it's main ingredient is alcohol. basically...i have really dry skin! lol

i've found the perfect hydration restoring hand cream.
it's the hemp hand protector from the body shop.

i first saw hemp seed oil used in tanning lotions back when i was in hs. i thought it was weird that a lotion would use hemp seed oil, because i always thought of hemp as marijuana like wat ppl smoke lol. but i educated myself on the effects hemp seed oil has on your skin. so hemp is actually made up of a few fatty acids, most importantly omega 3. omega 3 is known to help problematic skin related to psoriasis, dry, itchy skin, eczema. hemp seed oil works by getting deep into your skin and replenishes it with these fatty acids which rehydrates your skin, basically repairing it and apparently hemp seed oil also helps with aging signs. so yea, there's your little science lesson on hemp seed oil effects on skin lol.

i don't carry this around with me in my purse or anything. i'll just put it on at night so my skin can repair over night.

my only issue with this hand cream is this creme is the smell. it's not that serious of a smell, but it does last a long time. i can wash my hands and i'll still smell it. however, the moisture it provides my skin definitely outweighs the not so great smell.
another great thing about this cream is that, being that it's so soft and silky it smooths over your skin so efficiently that you don't even need a lot, a pea size is enough, so this product will last a while being that i'm not using so much of it. after applying some lotions i get this feeling of residue on my skin and this cream does not leave that feeling at all, it gets absorbed by the skin quickly as you rub it in and it even softens your cuticles.

let me know if any of you guys have tried this out before, i've never heard of it until i got it as a present actually, and i love it! hope i helped anyone out whos been looking for a good hand cream.
